The Deep Plane Facelift Procedure
If approved for a deep plane rhytidectomy, it will likely take place in our state of the art in-house surgery suite. We will first administer anesthesia to ensure your comfort. To minimize visible scarring, Dr. Anthony then makes precise incisions, typically placed within the hairline and behind the ears.
Next, he elevates the deeper muscle layer of the face by releasing the ligaments that hold the SMAS in place. This enables the entire layer to be lifted and repositioned smoothly, without causing any tension. After repositioning the underlying tissues, Dr. Anthony removes any excess skin and closes the incisions with sutures.
Recovery Process
Recovery from a deep plane facelift typically involves some bruising and swelling during the first few days. Most patients are advised to avoid strenuous activities for several weeks.
